Intercooler for a hot running stock 5.7L TPI?
Guys-
I have a rebuilt stock 5.7L TPI in my 88 IROC and it does NOT like hot weather. It runs at 230 or 240 degrees on a 90 degree plus day causing me to run the heater to cool it down. On a nice cool day I can run it consistently at 190 or 200 degrees.
I'm new to third gens so my knowledge is limited.
A buddy of mine that owned on in HS said that his consistently overheated at well and that I might want to have an intercooler installed to keep the temperature down.
My understanding is that intercoolers are performance improvers.
Can I run an intercoolers on a stock setup to keep the engine cool?

Re: Intercooler for a hot running stock 5.7L TPI?
You can... but intercoolers are meant to cool the air because it is compressed by a VERY hot turbocharger.
Not the solution you're looking for.
What thermostat are you using? Have you modified the ECM at all? What fan switch? All pertinent information.
Go through these step's, ask if you have questions. (step 1 is very important)
