I can't help with what you need to get all back into the car for the AC to work but when you do get it back in you could use stuff called hot shot it is a replacement for r12 and will work in that system no problem. I live in az and get my cans from a AC supply shop called job stone supply. The hot shot or r12 works alot better than r134. 134 sucks

So do you have AC gauges and a vacuum pump, too?

Re: I want ac in my 88 gta

just make shure you clean the old r 12 oil out of the condenser , evaporator and compressor also get a new dryer. and new orings on every connection the r 12 oil when mixed with the 134 oil will eat the orings. I have put several retro fit kits on old r 12 systems and they work if you clean the system. Good luck!

Re: I want ac in my 88 gta

The evaporator is the small radiator in the middle that goes in the heater box, the dryer is the silver can upper right. It mounts to the evaporator. It must be replaced any time the system is exposed to air. Keep the new one sealed till your ready to pull vacuum and put in the 134a.
