Coolant leak issue
Sadly,I havent had time to really work on my Camaro for about a year and a half due to lack of funding but am working now to try and get it back on the road. I have driven it for maybe 200 miles since I bought it 2 years ago and when I first got the car the coolant container was filled to the brim with coolant that looked more like jello than coolant.I emptied the container and flushed the radiator, the whole deal but when I looked at the car today I noticed the coolant that was in the reservoir was gone. I then looked and found this leak. I am no mechanic but know basics and was wondering if this is something I can do at home or need to have professionally done. Seems like the previous owner did a shotty job of replacing the gasket and I dont know if I have to just replace the gasket properly or if it is something more intensive.Any help would be great. Mahalo (thanks).

Can't see the larger part of the motor, is that the water neck going into the top of the motor?
If so, that's a really easy fix. Just lower your fluid level, remove the two hold-down bolts and that's it. You may have to pry it off if it's stuck down. Drop a 180* thermostat in there while your at it since you have that neck off.

If that's the water pump, then same basic principle, just four bolts on the sides and some gaskets you have to mess with.

Re: Coolant leak issue
Glad to help!
That's the Thermostat Housing, mine leaks sometimes as well.
The joy of owning an old car is...you never get to "not" work on it! It's my excuse anyway when the wife is mad. "Sorry hun, i have to go "fix" my car!" haha
