Heater Valve connections

Hi all,

Where do I attach the coolant hose that goes from the heater valve (pictured above) into the heater core?

I'm replacing the T-connector that had been taking the place of a proper heater valve for a couple years, so there was no "old" one to verify what goes where.

I keep finding instructions to bypass it when I do a search.
