Water Level indicator
Water Level indicator
I have an 82 with a small water leak. the cooling system in this one has been a particular bear. I know that this wont fix it, but i was wondering, Have any of you ever added an aftermarket water level indicator to your third gen? Just something that might turn on a light mounted in the cab to indicate the water level is low.
Any suggestions on kits or systems that can be adapted from another car?

Re: Water Level indicator
While there may be sensors currently available to indicate a low water level, I'm really not aware of one so I'll suggest the following. First of all, if this is your daily driver, make it part your routine to check your water level on a daily basis on a cold car and secondly and most importantly, find the leak and fix it.
Good luck with it.

I Sense A Problem
For maximum info use 2 sensors.
One in the overflow container, one in the radiator.
The one in the radiator will let you know you’re getting low while driving, the one in the overflow container will let you know after a heat /cool cycle coolant is STARTING to get low.
Build a time delay into the circuit so it won’t needlessly activate during takeoffs and braking.
