Coolant Temp Sensor / Fan Short

Engine: LS1

Coolant Temp Sensor / Fan Short
I asked this question in the electronics section but have received no input so I'll try here,
My sons car is a 1991 Z28, 5.7 Auto. I bought the car a few months ago and it has an electrical short, when you connect the coolant temperature sensor (the sensor is located below the throttle body and is on the intake) the fan/s will not turn on. Disconnect it and the fan starts to work. The car is pretty clean and all stock. Any idea as to why?

,,,and when I attempted to turn the AC on, I blew the fuse. AC system is all there but like most third gens, not working. I was told it needed to be charged. The car's wiring looks all stock and clean.

maybe the temp sensor is shorted out or check the wiring going to the sensor I know when I replaced mine they gave me a new pigtail with it .
