Is hot....
Replace that coolant sensor. Appears I was wrong and on the 86 that sensor does play a role in the fan coming off/on.

Everythign I've been able to find (hours of searching here on the site mainly) indicates 1988 was the year they started going to ECM controlled fans.

Thats interesting. My 89 never had the ecm controlled fan; was it different for firebirds?

So I guess the early cars had the ecm controlled fans, then the later ones didnt. At least thats what I gather, even though it makes more sense the other way around.
