A/C stopped working, so I had it refilled with R134 and it started cooling. However, it will blow cold air (48 deg) then after ten minutes or so it will blow warm air about (70/75 deg) then repeat this cycle or close to it. What gives??????

 

It sounds as though you have a system restriction-typically the orifice tube can collect debris and in short order it can become so clogged that little to no flow is occurring. This is why AC gauges are vital to determining what's going on. If you hook gauges to your system, assuming the system is properly charged, if the AC goes from cold to warm/hot and the high side system pressure goes way up while the low side slowly creeps up, that's an indication of a system blockage.

Was the AC system opened at any time prior to you putting freon in it? If so, did you pull a vacuum before charging?

 

No, the system was not opened up before the R134 was changed. Will be taking the car this Monday and wanted to get a idea what might be happening, Thanks for the info.

 

Is the compressor cycling off and staying off when it blows warm like this? Sounds like the low pressure cycle switch needs replacing. A cheap fix easy. You can do it in your driveway.

Update on my A/C problem.....Replaced fan motor and two leaking fittings and now the system works. No more warm air, it is now 40deg coming from the center vent.
