Hope you can help. I have attached couple of picture. I found out that my coolant sensor is broken (1st pic, next to the ground wire). BUT, i can't find the connector that suppose to connect. The 2nd pic shows the only connector that seems to be around that i dont think is the one. I have read that the connector suppose to have yellow and black wire. There is nothing in the vicinity with that. In the 2nd picture, behind the connector, I see 2 wires (yellow/black) but they are running inside the harness and do not exit at all.
Can anybody recommend where i should look for this wire?

 

The thing that's broken isn't a "sensor"; it's the thermal vacuum switch for the EFE valve.

The original place for the coolant temp sensor was in the water outlet, where the pipe plug with the Allen drive now is.

The other plug in the water outlet, with the big square head, is where the thermal vacuum switch for the canister purge valve used to be.

The connector hanging out of the harness in the 2nd pic is one of the ones for the AIR diverter valve, which appears to be gone.

The wires that you refer to that are now inside the harness might be for the coolant temp sensor. Looks like someone in the past just stuffed them up into the loom when they hacked the CTS off of the car and spooged it all up with tape & tie-wraps. Cut all that off of there and see what's inside.

Looks like you've got the computer-controlled carb on there, but the control system is completely fornicated. Might be a good idea to get a coolant temp sensor and install it. Your Check Engine light might stay off and the car run AHELLUVALOT better and get better gas mileage too.

 

Thanks Sofa. This is a big help! I figure it was hacked! I am getting a code 14 after I fixed the CEL too. I will look into placing a new CTS and open up the Harness and see.

Yup, code 14 is one of the coolant temp sensor codes; much better chance of eliminating that if there's a CTS present.
