Cooling fan help.

Ok so I have a 1984 camaro z28 with the l69 h.o. Motor with a single fan electric. I have replaced everything involving the heating components, new radiator, new hoses, new thermostat, new coolant temp sender( between 1&3 spark plug), new coolant temp sensor(on top of t stat neck), new coolant fan switch with new connector( right side of engine between 6&8 I believe) and a new coolant temp gauge in the dash as well as a new relay for the whole circuit. And a new cooling fan itself, So as far as the cooling fan system everything has been replaced. My fan still doesn't come on unless I have the AC on. When I take off the connector to the coolant fan switch and take my power probe and ground the actual connector it completes the circuit and the fan does come on, now keep in mind ive replaced the coolant fan switch 3 times now cause that's where I've traced it to, still no luck, I am also not using thread sealer on the switch as I know it grounds it's self to the engine block. If someone could please give me some help on why my cooing fan is not turning on that would be awsome!!!

Re: Cooling fan help.

A carb'd/tbi engine has no ECM fan control. You can put a million new stock fan switches back in, they will all turn on at the same temp... 238°F (± a few degrees tolerance).

The ONLY way the fan will come on at a lower temperature, aside from using the hvac controls, is with a fan switch that turns on at a lower temperature.

Re: Cooling fan help.

Ok. I know the car has no ecm. I just solved the problem. So those of you who are having the same issue, buy yourself an infrared thermal thermometer and point it at the neck of the top coolant hose and your fan should come on at 230 ish and cool to around 210 ish. I've found online that a stock gm coolant temp sender will fix the inaccurate temp gauge
