Mystery broken sensor - thermostat housing
Mystery broken sensor - thermostat housing
Hello, I have a 1983 firebird (305), which I'm trying to restore. I apologize for my novice question but I have a broken sensor which sits on the thermostat housing that I can't identify. I believe it may be a temperature coolant sender but I may be wrong. The first pic is where the sender is located. The second pic is a wire which I'm guessing connects to the sender and relays to the temperature gauge? The last two pics are of the broken sensor (sender?). I don't believe it's the TVS as it appears to be the one on the left hand side of the first pic.
My firebird appears to run fine when it's cool and but once it's warms up it begins to idle low and will begin to stall/shutter like it's not getting enough fuel. Could this be the culprit or am I totally off base? Thanks again.

that bung on the water neck is for the CTS that provides temperature readings to the ECM.
your carb is not a computer controlled model, your vehicle is either export or swapped.
with that carb no need for the CTS
