Re-Adding AC

Hi Guys,

When I had purchased my car, someone had already taken the liberty of removing the AC Pump and the hi\low pressure lines. They did leave the condenser and collector, and I assume the evaporator is inside the shroud. The Evaporator\Collector are from a 1990 Formula, although I could swap in the one from the 84 TA if there's any difference.

Since I'll be dropping in my 350 next week to replace the 305, I was hoping to get AC hooked up as well during the process. I am keeping the V-Belt drive for the time being. Does anyone know of a place I might be able to source the parts? AFAIK I'll need the pump, the pulley, and the lines. Also, what refrigerant would be best since it's a completely empty system presently?

Thanks!

Re: Re-Adding AC

used parts section?

I just want to remind you that the A/C drier needs to be replaced once you've opened the system for a length of time. And remember that before filling with expensive gas, you must apply a vacuum pump to the system, for two reasons: 1. to check for leaks (make sure it holds a strong vacuum for a while) and 2: to evaporate all the water from the system.

Re: Re-Adding AC

I'll probably bring it in to get checked\filled. I imagine it won't cost much more than just buying the fluids myself.

Thanks for the info on the dryer. I suspected but I wasn't sure. Can you buy these new anymore?

I've seen a few threads about using\converting to other refrigerants. I'm guessing if I bring it in they won't fill it with anything other than R-134A, though.

its a common thing, probably daily somewhere around the world somebodys A/C system opens and fails and they need a drier today. Parts like that so common, draw the attention of suppliers who can manufacture it or simply acquire it/know where to get it. The problem finding something new is more likely if the part in question almost never fails or needs replacement.
