AC Cleanup and Removal

How hard to complete a AC DELETE. Could a two year old do this or do I need to take it to a shop. Does anyone have a detailed video or check list of what to do? What parts do I need, and where do I start. I'm pretty handy just know nothing about it!

It's really not hard. You will need the A/C delete heater box for sure which you should be able to find easily on ebay. To replace the A/C compressor in the serpentine system you can get the A/C delete pulley or just leave the spot bare and get a different size belt. The old A/C wire connectors you can leave in place and just tuck them into the harness as much as you can. There may be something that deals with the resistors or the blower motor that needs changed-I can't recall, just do a quick search.

You will absolutely love the amount of space that you'll free up!

Re: AC Cleanup and Removal

The blowers for AC and non AC are different. Depending on the year AC units had a 4 wire resistor pack and the non AC is a 3 wire pack. 4 speeds vs 3. Also the AC uses a relay for the highest speed while the non AC doesn't. Its easy enough to adapt the AC harness to the non AC blower. All you'll need is a relay and to correctly pin the AC harness to the non AC resistor pack. I'll post of the drawings when I can.

If you buy an aftermarket heater delete box, you won't necessarily have to get a new fan. I bought this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/82-92-F-body...nvMx0PTROaNa1Q
And it fit nicely and was designed to accomodate the larger AC blower fan. You'll need to fabricate a fitting for the blower cooling hose (I used brass fittings from the hardware store) and you'll need some foam weatherstripping to seal the box to the firewall. I did not have to change any wiring for the blower.

It might also be possible to adapt the 4-wire resistor bank into the factory non-AC housing. Then the AC harness would plug right in just as the aftermarket unit does. This is the route I'll explore before I decide exactly what I'm going to do. At any rate I'll have to add a relay as I've already modified the original AC harness that came with the chassis.
