Fan Switch not functioning!
Hey all,
I have an 86 camaro berlinetta vin H. I am having issues getting the fan to kick on with the fan switch. The green wire that grounds the circuit and allows the fan to come on is good, and fan turns on with AC. I have bought two new switches. The first I put in between #6 an #8 cylinders. I purposely let the motor get hot and despite the temp gauge reading above 240 it never grounded the circuit. I put the other switch in the head next to #1 cylinder, but am getting the same results. I can ground the wire and the fan will run with the key, but I would rather this function properly. Any ideas?

There can be a lot of reasons why the electric cooling fans wont work reliably.
Add this in parallel to the existing fan relay trigger wire. Works like a charm.

Have the switch tie a ground in to the relay, adjust your temp on the thermostat switch and your are good to go.

Re: Fan Switch not functioning!
With my factory temp gauge the fan would not come on until it read about 260 even though the aftermarket and IR gun read about 235. Many of our factory gauges are very off.

Stock fan switch on temp, 238°F.
AutoZne, sw505, 215 (slightly cooler than ecm controlled fan temp).

Get the proper switch. They are different between engine sizes. Do not put teflon tape on switch, it won't ground the circuit. Put in with liquid teflon only.
