92 Camaro with new 383 aluminum head stroker 450 Hp, Stainless Works Headersa and complete exhaust system. MSD Atomic EFI, Be-Cool Aluminum Rad, and 3300 CFM Flex-a-lite electric cooling fan set up.
While running at highway speed 45 - 80 MPH runs cool 170. In traffic runs 230.
NO air to rad. Any fixes?

Make sure your front end ducting is in there to prevent loop flow.

Re: Hot 383 stroker - 92 Camaro
Check fan "polarity".
A fan will spin in two different directions just by switching the wires from positive to negative or vice versa.

Its difficult to tell because if the fan is against a radiator your bound to get some air blow back.

Run one of the wires to positive on the battery or just wait for it to start on its own and closely check the spin direction.

If the fan is in the engine bay it should "pull" air through the radiator into the bay.

If the fan is in front of the radiator it should push air through it into the bay.

You would be surprised at how many time this happens because most fans have two black wires. Very easy to get them crossed.

What temp is the thermostat? What is the on temp for the fans? How much timing are you using? How old is the coolant? How much crap is in front of the radiator? 230* is the temperature they run stock so it's not that hot in reality.

I would say this is normal. Make sure your fan is working properly. Use an IR gun to check temps at the radiator hose. It's common that they read not very accurately. As long as you're not boiling over it's ok.

overheat at idle = fans
overheat at 35+mph = radiator
