Help! Coolant fan not receiving power

While testing my cooling system after replacing my water pump I noticed my fan was not turning on when needed. Check and replaced my relay fuse only for it to melt due to a ceased fan motor. Well fan motor is replaced connector to fan also replaced, old connector melted same time relay did. Damage was done to the relay fuse box but those connections have also been changed. The live wire that was damaged still isn't giving power. Any thoughts? I was thinking it burned out my temp sensor or worse a short in my computer.

This thread should be in the electrical section. You might want to state year and model and single or duel fan so the correct schematic can be posted to help you address this issue. The ecm controls the ground side of the relay except tbi the head temp switch. On duel fans the secondary fan has a temp switch for backup when ac isn't being used.

Re: Help! Coolant fan not receiving power

Fan relay has only four wires connected to it. Verify 12 volts power supply
being present at the relay. Also 12 volts when key is on to small grey or tan wire. Then when a ground is applied to the green with white stripe wire by the ECM, fan switch, or you while testing it should send 12 volts down the other fat wire(often black W/red stripe) to the fan if the relay is working and all wiring is intact. If that turns on the fan but normal operation won't, figure out why it's not getting the ground to it. If single fan with fan switch , the switch is the most likely fault

Re: Help! Coolant fan not receiving power

I do apologize seeing the title of this forum said all things cooling including electrical fans I thought this would be the right place. I also forgot I no longer have my car listed with my profile. I had an 88 firebird but just sold it to someone better equipped to give it a full restore. The car in question is a 95' Firebird with the 3.4L. I know it's not a third gen but I just recently purchased the car and didn't know where else to ask for help. It's a single fan setup. On the relay fuse box there are 4 wires a small green one,a small black possibly brown wire that is receiving power, a larger thicker red wire which as I understand is supposed to be receiving power but is not and a larger teal color as well. The red and teal wires were the ones damaged when I replaced the relay not knowing the fan motor itself was ceased. Any help is appreciated.
