Air conditioning and fan question?
I have a 88 Pontiac Formula with a 5.0 TPI/Auto . When I drive without the A/C on, the cooling fans work as like they should. The problem is the fans are not coming on when I turn on the A/C. Before, when I turned on the A/C both fans came on and ran and now they don't. I checked the fuses and changed the fan relay and still the same issue. Is there a switch in the compressor that turns on the fans? Thanks for any help.

Yes but on my 1989, its near the firewall on the air con line. If this switch is bad, neither fan will come on during air conditioning.

What did you find or replace? I'm fixing up an 88 for a friend. The previous owner took out the A/C system so I put a new system on already and replaced the pressure switch on the dryer and the A/C blows cold but the 2nd fan isn't working with the A/C on either. The Fan operated when grounded, I replaced the relay as well. Having a hard time finding any short in the wiring. The only thing I haven't changed yet is the passenger side manifold fan switch.
