radiator

after a long drive the 2 core aluminum radiator is to cool at the cap but untouchable on the other side. ??

Sounds good to me... the cap is on the cold side. No mystery that I can see.

Hot water comes in on the driver's side, gets cooled going across, is drawn from the pass side back into the motor to cool it again. The system is behaving exactly as designed.

We have already told you that the problems lies with the thermostat. If you are over-cooling, that is pretty much a bad thermostat. No further diagnosis required.
