Temp gauge acting strange

It seems as my temp gauge only works when it feels nice outside like between the weather of 60-78 Degrees...However when it is cold outside lower than 30 Degrees my Temp gauge won’t Function any Ideas?

The cold weather won’t be back for a while therefore you’ll have plenty of time to prepare for this test:

Disconnect the
green wire from the temp sensor.

Clip in a 100 ohm resistor from that wire to the negative battery terminal.

Turn the key to RUN.

If the gage is good it will read about 220°.

If it reads erratically you will know the gage is at fault.

Happy Racing !

Re: Temp gauge acting strange

Nina always has the best tests.

For now, you can practice removing the gauge cluster. Remove it and inspect the printed circuit on the backside. If the printed circuit is degraded/damaged/delaminating, your gauges won't work properly. You can also replace the burned-out bulbs while you have it apart.

Here you can see how the printed circuit can de-laminate. Also note the verdigris forming, indicates damage from moisture.
