Sanden SD7 Oil Amount

I finally have my Holley accessory drive assembly installed and now I am working on the AC lines. Much trial and error and it looks like I finally have the right fittings. My next issue is the compressor. It is a new Sanden SD7 compressor. Instructions says to look on the label for oil type. Problem is I have no label. I asked Sanden and they were not helpful at all. They said ask Holley. Holley has not responded. Should I assume that the compressor has no oil and add about 6 oz total of oil to the compressor and accumulator? Should I use SP-10 (pag 46), SP-15 (pag 100) or some other PAG oil?

Re: Sanden SD7 Oil Amount

Hello,

What did you end up doing?

I’m also finishing up my SD 7 on the mid mount Holley system and have the same question.

I called Holley and the tech rep told me it comes filled. He sent me the manual.

manual says “Sanden service compressors are supplied with a full oil charge as indicated on the label above. This amount is consistent with the original OEM charge used during vehicle build” but it also says fill with the right amount of oil for new systems.

Please let me know how it worked out for you.

I haven’t worked on it for awhile but I did find the label that said how much oil was in it. The label was underneath the compressor.

Not sure which Sanden that system comes with but I had to add a lot of SP-15 to mine, to total 11oz because of the dual evaporator system. My SD7H15 had 135cc oil precharged into it.

Mine is in a Holley mid-mount accessory system. It has no placard… probably because I opted for the all black. What happens if I add the oil
and it didn’t need it?

thanks for the heads up.

Re: Sanden SD7 Oil Amount

A little update:

the Holley part number for the compressor is 199-104 (black). The part numbers range from 199-103 to 199-106 Depending upon your color.

I looked the part number up and found the actual manual (see photo). It’s my understanding that I have to use 3.4 oz of the PAG -100 oil.
