R-4 compressor install, how much oil to use?
I am getting around to fixing my a/c today and am putting it back together, but I can not find anywhere the proper amount of oil to use when replacing the compressor, evaporator, and accumulator. I know to drain the old compressor and use that amount in the new one but I did not have an old one to drain. This also would not give me the right amount if I had the old compressor because I am replacing the accumulator and evaporator. If anyone know what the factory spec is for the amount of oil for the system I would be grateful.

total a/c oil system capacity is 8 ounces. depending on how long the the system hasn't been used the oil will sit in different places, low spots mainly. you can average it out to 1.75 ounces compressor, 1.75 ounces condenser, 1.75 ounces evaporator, 1.75 ounces accumulator 1 ounce in the lines.
