Installing new A/C system
Hello third gen world..so I have had my 87 for about 11 years or so and I have never had A/C.i just ordered original air A/C kit that I’m getting ready to install.my car currently has BBK underdrive pulleys on it.will underdrive pulleys affect the A/C system as I know underdrives slow down the accessories.do any of you guys have A/C issues with pulleys? Thanks

Re: Installing new A/C system
The accessory pulleys being underdrive or overdrive will not affect your A/C pulley. They are all driven off the crank pulley, so as long as that is stock everything else will not affect your A/C.

Re: Installing new A/C system
I guess I didn't read your first post carefully enough and assumed you were talking about just accessory pulleys. Sorry about that.
I am not familiar with the BBK kit and have never done an underdrive off the crank so I have no personal experience on how much this might affect your A/C system. However, with an underdrive pulley off the crank you are looking at the A/C compressor operating at a consistently slower speed. Exactly how much slower is based on the ratio/size of your pulley. I wouldn't think you would have any issue except maybe at idle. On a stock pulley with a stock A/C the system is designed to work as good at idle (750ish RPM) as it does at max throttle (5,000+ RPM), so I wouldn't expect you to see any difference at anything except maybe idle speed.
Hopefully someone who has actually used this or a similar underdrive kit will offer some real world experience on how it really played out for them.
