Using v-belt pulley system on 3rd gen...

Id rather use an older style v-belt style pulley system on my new engine than the serpentine. The car will have no a/c and no smog pump. will it all work out right? any probs you guy know about?

The V belt system is tried and true. It works.. when setup properly.

But why on ***'s green earth would you want to go backwards ? The serpentine system is much easier to install and maintain. No adjusting to do and no worries that the belts will slip off. All you would have to do is get a belt that's a little longer (again the search key and there's also a technical article about it) and use an A/C delete pulley.

Its because I dont have any of the brackets at all....
just seemed like an easier option to get all the vbelt stuff.
Hell I have no idea man.

Oh... well if u can I'd get a serpentine system. But if cost is important, a V belt system will probably be cheaper. Not sure.

Heck...I think I know where to get a serpentine setup for cheap.

I did see the article on reomving the smog pump, but didnt see anything about doing them both(a/c and smog) and was ondering about belt length afterwards...etc.

Also....Do I need a long neck water pump?

No... but you will need a reverse rotation water pump. Just go to an autoparts store and ask for a pump for an 88-92 Camaro. Shouldn't be more than 20 bucks.
