A/C not taking a charge?
I got my 88 GTA last winter. I haven't needed the a/c since then. When I bought it the previous owner of the vehicle said it has been converted to R134 just has a freon leak. Well I looked around and say the line fitting by the high port was loose. I tighten it up and tried to add freon but there is no vacuum to pull the freon in. How can I get a pull back in the system myself? There is zero A/C shops in my area.

if it was loose, you need a vacuum pump to evacuate it. then you can fill. read up on how to do this, its all over the internet, and on this board was well. make certain it was converted to r134 and is still not R-12. or you will have problems.

I ended up finding an oreillys that has the pump and gauges they loan out for 48 hours for a $300 deposit so I think that is what I am going to do.
