Brand new fan hum Screams above 4500

Bought a brand new clutch hub from Gm and a new fan blade ,,had it on the car 6 months, first start up no problems but when reved the hub makes a shuddering noise and freaks out.
never saw this with a clutch fan let alone a brand new one. Had nothing but trouble with something so simple.
new Water pump hub was drilled off center, its wobbled. put ANOTHER new pump on. Now the Brand new Hub is Crap.

I will go back to a Fixed blade flex fan, they dont fail.

Got a pile of youtube videos with flex fans going through the hood that beg to differ

Sounds like you just got some bad parts. It happens. Especially if buying through a parts store, sometimes they don't check returned parts and just re-box em and sell them again.

I have beer running a 19 inch stainless steel durale flex fan for 14 years on my old 408 motor and ran 13.0 ets on the 1/4 night in night out.

I spoke to Davis Craig and the electric fans in Australia where its common at 110f temp day 4 months a year is not good.
I had a 16 inch electric and cooked the 408sbc.

i was ok on the road but first traffic lights i was in panic mode trying to get going again.

i went back to the big flex fan that is like a windmill.

Re: Brand new fan hum Screams above 4500

too bad about that water pump being miss-manufactured and ruining the fan clutch...that is one of the problems maintaining "legacy"cars-craptastic new parts...I have had OEM type flex fans on some of my vehicles and no problems other than HP usage at high RPM.Some of the street rod type flex fans are pretty bad The "big three"and AMC installed a lot of flex fans during the 1968-82 years-Ford had a recall in the '70s for faulty flex fans that would throw blades.

Why not go LS fans? They rock!
