AC Clutch question

MY a/c compressor seems to have an issue with the clutch when engaged. Sometimes it will spin, sometimes it binds when the AC is on. I have read it could be the spacing and or the bearing. I really don't want to replace the whole compressor because it works when the clutch spins and the refrigerant is full.

My issue is I can't get the clutch off. Whatever I do I cant hold the clutch while trying to loosen the center clutch bolt. If I engage the AC with the car not running it doesn't lock and I can't hold the clutch with vice grips or big pliers and turn. Is there any trick on how to get this off?

Thanks

Re: AC Clutch question

Need a tool. I bought one years ago but I suspect you can borrow from a parts store. Good video here:
