A/C Compressor Clutch
Recently after an extended trip my A/C compressor clutch started smoking. It was not able to turn the compressor and would only smoke when it was turned on. Later, after the engine cooled, the A/C worked fine. Is this a bad clutch or is the compressor starting to lock up? I had the system converted to R-134a in May. Also, how difficult is it to replace the clutch, and does it requre any special tools. Thanks.

what i have experienced in the past with ac compressors is if your clutch is going bad replace the entire compressor, much cheaper in the long run.
