3.1 v6 fan control info

I've searched threads and google and not getting very far.
My car has a 180 degree thermostat and will run there all day while driving but will shoot up to 220 in town. The fan does not kick on until 220.
Id like to change that. Everything I see is for a 305. Any easy factory style wiring way to get it to come on earlier or am I stuck to doing a toggle switch to turn it on as needed. "I am ok with this but would be happier with an automatic factory style set up.
Any info would be great.

Well the first part of that is well above my pay grade. Laymen terms please.
It has the 3.1L now. I have a 350 in the garage and access to a 5.3. Not sure which way I am going but for now I want to have it run cooler in town.

Simplified you can use the ecm to control the fan and set desired fan on/offs in the tune .

Yes , stock 224 on can be changed in tuner cat or tuner pro rt and just reburn your prom. There’s a piggyback that can be used or solder in a more friendly tunable flash chip like a sst27sf512 eeprom.

Re: 3.1 v6 fan control info

3.1 is ECM controlled vs the 2.8 which uses a fan switch in the head. You could always bypass the ECM activation and use a manula fan switch in the head or somewhere.
