Sanden compressor in place of somg pump with V-belt
Hey all,
I just wanted to share my latest project for those of you still using the v-belt setup and looking for aftermarket sanden AC ideas. I noticed that the mounts from my old smog pump and the general size of the Sanden SA5H14 (Sanden 508) were really close so I decided to modify the brackets to fit the compressor. All I had to do was shorten the smog pump lower bracket the mounts to the engine block. I took 1/2 inch out of its length and welded it back together. In the photo from underneath you can kinda see where I welded it. I also had to flatten the adjuster piece that allows you to tighten the belt. It had a bend in it that didn't work for this application. Just heat it up and smash it flat. Im still waiting for my lines to arrive and will post update photos when I'm finally done.
Re: Sanden compressor in place of somg pump with V-belt
Yep that's what I was going for. I think non R4 compressors look out of place when they are on top and I didn't want to route the hoses all the way to the passenger side.
Re: Sanden compressor in place of somg pump with V-belt
I would highly recomeend a deslugger for that kind of application. Low mounting a compressor like that tends to cause a buildup of liquid in the compressor in periods of time it is not used.

Thanks for the info on that Deslugger.. Never heard of that. For the cost I think its a good thing to use in my case. Especially since this system was never designed to be in this orientation.
