88 IROC TPI. First it was fuses blowing, now I can get one of the fans running in diagnostic mode/ jumping A & B of the ADL. But it doesnt run when I actually need it to. I'm not sure what is going on but tempted to sidestep all this and run with one of these. Anyone else done something similar

Haven't looked at in a while, but cooling fan system pretty simple from what I recall. Two things will command it to turn on. Coolant temp or A/C.

 

Just not sure I can trust the wiring any more.

 

I got tired of fighting with the original system on my 1987 and installed a Dakota Digital fan controller using factory fans and new plugs to fans. Works great and programmable. I did need to relocate the Dakota temp sensor from the head to the water neck area. Didn't survive too long so close to the exhaust manifolds.

 

That could be the problem. The factory system put together as a whole the way the car came out of the factory is a good working system. I mean air dams, gaskets all in place and having a decent radiator, etc..the fans by themselves won't complete the picture.
