WINALDL HELP FOR buick turbo

I was told by another member that he thought someone on this board had made the cable and used in in their Turbo Buick. I made a cable but it will not read any data.
If someone could point me in the proper direction I would appreciate it. Already posted on the Buick board but not much luck there. Thanks for any help.

Did you try it with a 10k R3 resistor?
What engine type and what year is it?

Well, I built the cable using 10K resistors (2). I also tried a 10K from ALDL term A to B but it only caused the fan to start and no data.
It is on a 1986 Buick 3.8L turbo GN.

I think that it should work without R3.

Your laptop may have a weak 12V source on pin 4. You can try an use 12V from the cigarette lighter instead.

Jonas, yea maybe that is the problem because I only get 9.3v out of pin 4 from the laptop. I will try a 12v source from lighter. Thanks
