ECM not giving code

My car was running great and then it suddenly seemed to lose power

a SES light came out

I tried to get the code but the ECM didn't blink anything when grounded, not even code 12

and now every time I start my car I hear the fan start up as well even though the engine is cold!

and that's if I'm lucky enough for the engine to start at all

did my ECM just die?

Sounds like it.

It's aways a good idea to accumulate a spare ecm, if for no other reason then for testing. Just be sure the spare you keep is actually a good one.

is there any way to determine if the Prom is bad? or if the ECM is bad?

I was planning on getting a ECM but if the Prom is bad what is the point

well I bought a new ECM after I realized that tapping my old one would case the SES light to go on(fan included)

and it seems that everything is working! :lala:
