im stupid. . .
ok, what does DFI mean? I know what ecm is, but i cant figure out DFI. Also, what is prom? Is it programming? I know my brother did something with it, but i dont know what it is and does. thanks for putting up with my stupidity.

From what I've seen, it stands for digital fuel injection; I could be wrong though.

DFI = Digital Fuel Injection
PROM = Programmable Read Only Memory
ECM = Engine Control Module
Consider a PROM to be like the RAM in your computer. It is used to store data. The difference between RAM and PROM is that the PROM will not lose memory once the power is removed, but can only be programmed once. An EPROM is similar, but can be Erased so it can be re-programmed.

Programming is the software the ecm uses to figure out what to do. It's a set of instructions. Within the programming is all the calibration data the ecm uses to figure out what values to use in instruction programming.
