Is there a way to keep the car in open loop?
I'm a newbie to all the specifics of how the ECM's work in these cars. My problem is that the car runs fine in open loop, but when it goes into closed loop it falls on it's face and puffs black smoke. I could barely get it home. My question is is there a way to keep the car in open loop? The reason ask is because right now I have the stock program in the car. It's a new motor with a cam and 24# injectors. I'm having a PROM burned but not for a week or two.
My other question is when does the car go into closed loop? Is it after it reaches a certain temperature or after it's been running for a specified period of time?

The engine must have been running x amount of time, be so warm, and have a valid O2, for closed loop
