O2 sensor

i was looking to buy a wideband o2 sensor for my car, and was wondering where i could find one. There are a couple 4-wire ones available on ebay. Would that work?

4 wire sensors aren't wideband....just heated. I forget how many wires a typical wideband has....I wanna say 7 but I could be totally off.

You'll need a matching setup to get any readings from the sensor too...you can't just plug it into your stock ECM or $30 gauge. I'm gonna move this to the DFI and ECM board....you should get more help there.

Currently there are two decent options available. One is a DIY unit that is a great bang-for-the-buck unit. Infomation can be found at www.diy-wb.org. This is a non-profit unit that has been around for a while.

For a commercial unit the LM1 from Innovative Motorsports is decent:

The two popular WB sensors are the NTK/NGK and Bosch units. Both are a five wire sensor.

Since I have no idea how to make my own even with all that info, I'm leaning towards buying that kit. Will it bolt right up? Is there anything else I need for it?

You will need to purchase the sensor separately. IIRC Autozone has them for a decent price.

The output of the diy-wb is a voltage level. This translates to the measured AFR. This output may be data logged by a separate unit, by the ECM with modified code, an LED display or even a DVM.

There is a site that has the ECM code for data logging through the ECM. The AFR is sent out the ALDL port for use by a scan tool or something like Moates scanner/logging software.
