new engine...clueless on computer to use
I have purchased a 5.7L or 350 if you prefer the CID number. Either way I have it, I've stripped it down to the block. I may be raping a TPI setup off a 86 IROC that some idiot put a top post battery in and closed the hood
. Anyway, if I do the TPI and everything, should I use the stock computer and stuff out of the IROC, or should I try to get a different aftermarket computer. Not sure what exactly is going in to the 350 yet. Only that I'm aiming for a REALLY aggressive street legal setup. Only reason I'm posting here instead of engine swapper section is because right now I'm asking specifically only about the computer I need to use.
Any help is appreciated

You mentioned a 'street legal setup.' If this includes emissions then a OEM GM ECM is the only thing you can use. The choice then becomes MAF or SD, ('165 or '730). Whichever you are more comfortable tuning.

Only thing I'm really "Comfortable" that I can tune is a carburated engine. However, from a strictly power/torque viewpoint, the TPI is the better setup. So, the two computers you mentioned. Which one is probably going to be in the IROC I'm going to rape the TPI out of? When I say street legal I actualy mean 49 state legal parts. Because once I get my base decal CA and their gay smog checks and go eat a Well, you know where that's going.
