Knock sensor

Hey guys, I was just curious if I could disable the knock sensor in my ECM without F@#king it up or my engin? Thanks, Ben

It is easy to disable the knock sensor within the ECM. Just a matter of burning a new PROM for it.

As for the engine, well, it all depends upon it's propensity to detonate. If high then the motor can easily be damaged.

So it might not be that good of an idea for me to tamper with my knock sensor then huh?

If you are not having problems with it, then no. I have the ESC system on all of the vehicles. Some are stock LG4 w/TBI stuff, others are hi-po street stuff.

Once an engine is built for all-out racing, gears drives, flat tappet cams, solid engine mounts, open headers . . . the ESC system may not operate too well. Then it can be worth removing it.

On my vehicles I have found it to be an asset.
