Engine Trouble

I have a 92 camaro rs edition with the 3.1 v6. The other day my freeze plug blew out and the car got warm before i noticed it. I parked it picked it up via truck and trailer. Put the new freeze plug in it, I also replaced the knock sensor at the same time because i had a code 43. ran good for a long time. I had to change the freeze plug again because it blew out. after putting everything back together it runs great when first started. after running temp the engine light will randomly come on then the idle of the car changes if you rev the engine a few times the light goes off and the idle goes back up. I receive error 43 again. this also happens while driving. if the light is off car will pick up and go if light is on then you just get a bunch of rpms with no performance.

Re: Engine Trouble

Why did you change the knock sensor? Have you put a brand new one matching your engine?

This sounds like the ECM is pulling spark for what ever reason. One of them is a bad knock sensor or improper knock sensor for engine model/year.

Best of luck!

Re: Engine Trouble

I changed it when i got the car. The engine code said knock sensor. When changed it the engine light went off for over 4 months. There was only one for my model/year at the parts store. What else should I check

You'd have to get the trouble shooting chart. I don't have it with me. Could be your sensor again.
