Commander 950 and Remote coil
I just purchased a Holley Commander 950 part # 950-101 for my car. Everything looks great cept for the fact that I don't see any connectors for the remote coil. Distributor harness is there, but nothing for the coil. Is there a seperate harness im supposed to have, if not, what has everyone with the 950 done to accomodate the coil?

Can the stock GM parts be used? There is a short 2 wire piece that goes between the coil and the distributor. This can be the stock GM part. Then the power and tach connector to the coil (heavy pink and a small white wire). This would be part of the stock wiring harness.

Holley supplied this wiring adapter in the kit, goes to the distributor, then to the 950 harness.

I don't remember the stock GM connectors for the coil being seperate from the main harness, i'll have to go outside and check, thanks for bringing that to my attention!

Yep, that adaptor goes from the C950 harness to the spark control plug on the distributor. There is a separate two wire "harness" that goes from the distributor to the coil. This would be a stock GM part that you should have if your car had an external coil originally. Then there are the coil power and tach feed wires that should be part of your car's wiring harness which will plug into the other connector on the coil. Unfortunately I don't have a good pic of this on my computer, or I could post it to illustrate for you. Basically the C950 harness will hook up to your distributor using the adaptor and you should have all the other wires needed as they are no different than stock. Hope that helped, good luck!!

Crap, that kinda sucks... I was hoping for completely new engine harness wiring, and knowing GM that coil harness is discontinued. Well, I guess that's my only complaint about the Holley 950 so far. And for anyone that is going DFI and has a MAF 3rd gen, the intake snorkel for the speed density cars is discontinued, I was lucky cause only 1 dealership had one in stock, and it was 1 state away, they were kind enough to next day air it to me.

Yeah, I've got a few I'll throw in here. I'll be home in a couple days for Thanksgiving and I can snap some pics of the coil wiring too if you want. When I put my EFI setup in I needed the power and tach wire/plug because I was converting to small cap/separate coil. I ended up going to a junkyard and snipping the wiring out of a Chevy pickup. So many GM vehicles used the same ignition setup that it shouldn't be too hard for you to find what you need, even if it is discontinued by GM.
