Speed limitations by the ECU
Hi everyone. I have a 1991 V6 Firebird with an automatic transmission and 2:73 gears in the rear. I have added alot of speed parts in it.... long tube headers, custom Y-pipe, aerochamber catback exhaust, MSD ignition, cold air induction, high velocity oil and gas pumps.... just about everything short of going after the cam.
I went to have it dyno tested only to hit the 120mph limitation of the ECU.
I have contacted everyone I can think of to try to find a work around and as of yet have not found any answers other than "It can't be done" I hit the 120mph on the dyno at 4250rpm (the car redlines at 6000), which if my calculations are correct would mean I have one fast little 6 banger.... IF i can get past the speed limiter..... ANY suggestions ?
Thanks in advance!, Bad Kitty

Without going into the chip, . . . the easiest bypass is to put a switch in the wire from the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) to the ECM. Open the switch and the ECM is un-aware of the vehicle velocity.
Should be pin B10, YEL, into the ECM.
