Dyno tuning, how much would you pay?
My car is a 91 GTA w/ the holley C950, HSR, protopline heads, and a cc306 stuck in a 355 w/ a T-56 behind it. I've been pricing some places and they all seem a little high ($450-800) and no one can give me a low number estimate as far as what power it will put down. Not even a "what it should make" number.
If I picked the wrong parts, that's fine, tell me. But I can't justify $800 for a 10rwhp increase over what I bring it in there with. How much would you guys/gal pay for a wide band session? One place charged $95/hour. I could see $800 if it were a turbo car or supercharge and auto trans combo. But this thing is N/A

Most places I have found charge between $105-150 an hour for tuning. You car is pretty well modified so I would def say its worth it to you. 10 RWHP is nothing to bat an eye at either, plus a good tuner should be able to eliminate cam surge that I would almost guarentee you will have with that cam. I would pay the the price asked for that as long as you plan on keeping the combo like it is. Most places won't tell you what your car will put down, its against policy...there could be any number of power variations of power w/ a setup like that.

I'm in the same boat you're in and here is how I see it:
It's not all about the peak power increases. It's about how much better it will drive and perform once it has been touched by somebody that does tuning for a living. They also typically find power down low where the car is running fat or lean at a certain RPM range.
Since I don't want to be completely ignorant about the software that runs my car, i'm going to get mine running as best as I possibly can and then take it some where for a good final tune or "look over".

Noone is going to be able to tune for your driving style better then you. There's alot of threads in the DIY PROM board about tuning. Just a matter of converting one set of terms to another.
