Ecm Swap

Hey I am installing a 350 in my 91 that was originally a 305 my question is this:

If I swap to a 747 ecm will it just plug in to my existing wiring? I am putting a 350 from a suburan. I can get the computer also. Let me know if this will be the easiest route.

Thanks guys

Bill

If the original ECM was the 1228746 (L03 TBI engine) then yes, the '747 will plug right in. With the '747 coming from the 350 and being calibrated for it, yep, that is what I would do.

Only catch would be if the original app for the '747 was a stick trans and the new vehicle for it had an auto. The TCC logic would to all wrong.

Rrob,

Well, the 747 came from a auto trans and my car is a 5 speed. Do you think that I should just swap the ecm and get a chip from tbi chips for the 747? I mean if one ecm is better than the other.

Thanks

Bill

It isn't the ECM, it is the calibration for it. The better it matches the engine the better it will run. Just swap in the '747 from the Sub'n that came with that engine. Going from auto to manual sn't as critical as the other way around. And it'll run better then anything the TBI gul can come up with.
