ecm power cable

if you have ever bought one of those car manuals at autozone or advance, for the trans am or the camaro, if you go to the section under car codes, it shows a picture of the power cable, that looks like a clip like your o2 sensor might be if you replaced it, it says to clear the codes, to unplug the cord, does anybody know where the power cable is located.

It is right next to the battery. Look by the hold down bolt that mounts the battery and you will see it. Between radiator overflow tank and battery. If you can't find it just unplug the negative battery terminal for 30 seconds and that will clear the ECM. You don't want to do this if you have the anti-theft radio without consulting the manual first so you don't mess it up. You can also pull the ECM fuse in the fuse box for 30 seconds this also will clear the ECM. If you want to make sure the ECM is cleared get in the car and step on the brakes when you have the power unhooked to the ECM. This will completely kill any residual voltage that might still be in the circuit. If their is still residual power in the circuit the ECM might not be totally cleared out. Some people turn on the head lights to make sure there is now residual power left but this might not work because the head lights go threw relays and still might be holding voltage. Step on the brake pedal once and you'll be sure to kill all the voltage as there are no relays in the brake system!!!!! Best Regards. cabsales1
