ok My fan control chip is fried on the ECU board i was just wondering will this prevent the proper operation of the ECU? or does it only turn the fan on/ off? i am asking cause i have replaced the CTS and the O2 sensors but when i check to see if the car goes into Closed loop it dont the light just blinks fast and never slows down. also related to this is that the EGR chip that is right next to the fan chip is a bit brown is it probably damaged to no inoperability? i question this cause i have replaced the EGR valve and the related things and it still will not work. also any ideas as to what would cause that chip to litteraly get so hot that it explodes?

Thats nasty looking. I would replace it. Who knows what kind of other problems you may have. TPI parts at the top of the page sells them rather cheap. Or I got one from Advanced auto for around $70 I think. If it were me; I would get a new one.
well after hours of screwing with the darned thing i think i have isolated what was wrong and why it kept burning ECMs. well my dad had me pull the relay to look at it and he noticed that the relay had the solder from the Fan motor circuit had flowed over to the computer ground circuit and was sending all that power to the ECM. POOF
it makes since when i look at what it was doing. wont know for shure till i get a new ECM tho.
