Data Loggin Software

Hi All,
What seems to be the best software for data loggin these TPI's. I have a 88 corvette.

I'm currentlly using datamaster with the craig moate's OBD1-USB connector. The connection always craps out, i can never get a good strait connection with the ECM. It works but flaky as hell. I even sometimes have to wait to be in closed loop before a good log or even just moving the car is it starts loggin. It might just be end user error, but i'm very computer litert, so i'm not sure.

The craig moate tool has the little resister switch that changes the resistance, the doesn't seem to make a differnce. it's not the hardware i don't think otherwise my laptop would let me. I think its the software. So what is it everyone uses out there?

Thank You

I have been using DataMaster on my '96 Impala SS for years ( I reverted it back to an OBD-1 PCM ). It logs well, connects well etc, with Andrew Mattei's cable.

I just purchased an '89 GTA convertible L98 car, and bought the L98 version of DataMaster from Andrew. He gave me the changes I needed to make in his cable ( the 10k resistor etc ), and it connects just great.

If you are gettting intermittent's... my experience has been its either your laptop or the cable... or it could be a bad connection on your ALDL connector.

Best way we troubleshoot is swap to a different laptop, with a different cable etc. If the problem is still there you know its the ALDL connector.

If you don't have access to another laptop, perhaps a local shop will scan it for you. If their scan tool has a problem... then you can suspect the ALDL. If their's works... back to your laptop.

What OS are you running on the laptop and are you using the serial port for ANYTHING else ?? Sometimes there are programs running in the background on Windoze machines that will jack up the COM ports. Shut 'em all down.... then retry.

Just some thoughts.

I figured out the 7165 ECM suck for data logging. But found out dropping the baud rate helps very much.

Thanks

Hmmm... I have the 1227165 ECM and was data logging yesterday with the new beta version of DataMaster. I got it off their website. Its like version 351 ?? I haven't played any of the files back, but it looked like it does when I use their LT1 version.

I'll have to look at the file. I didn't adjust the baud rate, just hooked it up and went for it.

Interesting.

Anyone know if the 1227730 ECM can be use in non-speed density, i.e use it in an '88/89 and use the MAF inputs ?

Thanks!
