Some questions about Megasquirt

ive been thinking abd the price of an assembled MS off ebay is around the same as what you would pay for tuning stuff for a stock ECU. obviously i have a 749 in my car so even as a backup plan its still good for boost.

however, i was reading about the MS and came up with some questions.

1. i read in a for sale ad that with a change fo connector it can hook up to a stock speed density harness. this correct? i would assume attaching a different connector isnt too terribly hard...

2. i also read in several threads that the MS cannot control torque converter lockup but it was mentioned that there are addon upgrades that allow this. are these out there, i ask because one thread made it seem like it was something you would have to come up with on your own.

3. if the MS is properly assembled what is the failure rate? a common topic when being compared to a 749 ecu was that if something broke it would be hard to fix. i know that parts are easy to come by so thats not a problem. but have there been any failures due to product quality rather than mis-assembly?

4. its said that it cannot control spark. this i would assume can easily be controlled by a good HEI dist. and an MSD setup correct?

thanks for the help guys!

MSII does spark I believe.
Repair parts for a MS are at your local radioshack often.
But a spare 749 is cheap too.
You'll have to look at the spare I/O on the MS to see if it has a spare left over to do the tcc.
And the code is in to support it.
Other wise you'll have to do it like the carb guys do it.
Check the Bowtie Overdrives site for info on the tcc.
TCI has some good info too IIRC.

You have to check the MS archives to see how much trouble they have. Most times it's an easy fix.
