730' Swap question

This spring i'm converting to a 730'ecm from my 165'ecm.
The 730'ecm I picked up didn't come with a memcal.
I am using the Moates G1 Memory Adapter and i've been tuning the chips myself for my 165'ecm.
I was wondering if I have to find a 730' memcal and have it plugged in the G1 adapter or is that only used for limp-home or backup purposes?
Thanks.

I think it has to be in there for limp mode only. Not sure, but tpiparts.net did have them new for 75.00.

You will get a code 42 if it doesn't see the 730 knock circuit info.
