Help with codes, please...

Hi all,

I have a '88 Firebird, engine is 305. I get the following error codes:

13
32
43
54

The main problem what I recognized is very bad gas mileage.
Would you please tell me where and how should I start to check the system? What are the typical (if there's any) bugs i could have? Any suggestions or ideas are welcome.

Thanks very much in advance,
Alf

codes 13 & 43 will greatly effect fuel mileage & performance. these are the 2 codes to repair first.
code 32 is mostly an emissions code, but may have a small effect on fuel mileage.

13 is a problem with the O2 sensor or wiring, make sure the O2 sensor is connected, if it is the sensor is probably bad.

32 is a problem with the EGR system, the things that can cause this code are, bad EGR valve, bad EGR solenoid, problems with the vacuum lines, clogged passages, problems with the EGR temp diagnostic switch, problems with the wiring, or problems with the ECM.
in order of most common to least common problems are vacuum lines, EGR valve, EGR solenoid, temp switch, clogged passages with the ECM last.

43 is a problem with the EST, Electronic Spark Control. things that can cause this code are problems with the wiring & connectors, a bad knock sensor, a bad ESC module, the ECM, or the timing not set properly.
most common problem is a damaged knock sensor connector or a damaged knock sensor which usually happens when the starter is replaced. next would be other wiring problems, a bad knock sensor, bad ESC module, with the ECM being last on the list.

54 means the ECM saw low or no voltage to the fuel pump sometime when the fuel pump relay should have been on. not an important code if the motor starts & runs & the fuel pump turns off when you turn the key off. this code may be associated with hard starting or extended cranking.
possibly caused by a bad fuel pump relay or a wiring problem.

Thank you very much!

Looks scary, but I'll try everything upon your list. I'll be back if I can solve the problems.

Update:

I've made my own interface for WinALDL, just tested it, works fine. Now I have to understand what the program wants to tell me about.

Edit: I forgot to tell you, that it's a TBI system, maybe this makes some things clearer/easier helping me.
