GM Fuel Injection on a 1973 VW Super Beetle..need some help
Hi guys I haven’t posted here in a while. I am usually over at fullsizechevy as 94blazer383. But anyway, my dad and I have a little project on our hands. A 1973 VW Super Beetle with GM fuel injection. It came out of a 91 S-10 with a TBI 2.5 L 4 banger. ECM part number is 1227165 ASWY mask $83A, I think the ALDL data stream is A099.
I am using Tunerpro RT with an Autoprom. I have a .bin, .xdf, but my problem is with the .ads file. I am trying to make my own. Going off the A099 ALDL file and using my $0D A217 .xdf for my Blazer, I have the beginnings of an .xdf for the Beetle. I set up the command string, payload size, Checksum Cmd is checked, Master is checked, and Monitor is checked. I am not sure about the payload offset. My A217 file for my Blazer has a 4 there. How do you determine the payload offset?
I am able to connect to the ECM but I am not able to read any data, I just get all zeros. I have a few things added like TPS, RPM, and Engine Coolant….etc. I know this ECM came out in TPI Camaros, Firebirds, and Vettes. Just wondering if you guys might be able to give me some ideas on what I need to do to read the data from this thing. I don’t think I need the 10K resistor because the A099 says it’s an 8192 baud, and I thought that was only for the 160 baud ECMs. But I found an .ads file by Mark Mansur called “1227165-160baud”. Any help would be appreciated.
Here is some of the ALDL A099

I would try the 10K resistor just to see if it makes a difference. As for the payload and such search the DIY_PROM board and check the Tuning Guide sticky on that board. The sticky should have some links to threads that discuss setting up for scanning.
