Difference between 1227169s?

Hello,

If I'm correct the the 82 till 87 Camaro or Firebird with LG4 engine had the 1227169 or similar ECM. My question, is there any difference between these ECMs in those years? Maybe GM upgraded the ECM or make it faster?

I'm thinking about updating the ECM in my 81 vette. This forum gave me some info and Vader was very helpful in telling me to point me in this direction. Of course now I have the change I want to buy the best ECM to replace mine. I also have changed the TH350 for a 700R4 so that would also work a lot better with a newer type ECM. Thanks,

Greetings Peter.

Tough question, I do know that the ECMs varied over the years. Most likely it is because the code in the mask ROM changed. Same hardware, different firmware. An '85 LG4 w/auto used the 1226865 ECM.

Some CCC ECM versions supported a knock sensor while others did not. I have no idea which would be best for your application.

Thanks for the info RBob,

I think it would be better (now I have the choice) to take a ECM with a knock sensor application so the engine is a little safer for detonation. The extra wires aren't a problem because my interior is empty except for the wiring harnesses.
On ebay is a 86 ECM 1227169 from a Camaro with E4ME carb and automatic transmission and I can also get my hands on a 85 Camaro ECM wiring harness which also had a carb and auto transmission with knock sensor.
So if somebody knew the specs from this ECM I would know if it's a good one or not Thanks,

Greetings Peter.

On the DIY_PROM board there is a Tuning Guide Book sticky. In there is a link to CCC information. Might be worth taking a look.

Thanks for the link RBob, I think I have some reading to do
I read some other topics and found out the latest E4ME carbed V8 Camaro (87) had a 1228079 ECM. If this would work (with some extra changes) I think it would be the best option. But first, some reading

Groeten Peter.
